produced somewhere between a basement in brussels and an attic in the outskirts of paris, back when tape reel to reels, primitive rhythm boxes and analogue synths still carried a vague promise of the future, this music translated a certain atomic paranoia fuelled by the cold war industry. lo-fi music, abrasive, high pressure, dense, clipped to the max, like it was intended to punish any woofer that gets between it and the air.

crossing back on the floor. avion delivers 2 new techno slices packed with mastermind remixes by tripeo and blind observatory. the release starts with the ‘intro‘ which brings up the mood of the record with futuristic signal bleeps and a warm analogue pad surrounded by kicking and stuttering percussions. the original of ‘centum‘ starts slowly to bring up heavy bassline surrounded by bright noises and alternating noise swirl verbed to voices highlighting partial explosions to end with bleep and soft strings. crossing 006 this time welcomes two fantastic artists as remixer and lays down ‘centum‘ to tripeo and blind observatory for their re-­&#8208,,interpretation. tripeo stays on the rough and kicking side of techno and delivers with his interpretation packed with the original strings and an analogue synth noise accompanied by a straight drumwork and cutted hi hats a kicking weapon for the floor. the myterious blind observatory takes the vibe of the original and pumped it with an acid bass to create a parallel universe built by dreamy strings highlighting the rides to lose control in the perfect moment. a real dancefloor killer.

over a year since their last release, birdsmakingmachine come back hitting hard with a diverse three-track ep ranging from deep to minimal house. the title track “deaf crows” intelligently layers delayed snares and elaborate hihats into subtle analogue pads and melodies, resulting in a sophisticated, yet dj-friendly composition. at over 10min long, it’s an endless rotation of industrial rawness that manages to melt into the smooth and rich textures for which the birds are known. “black midget”, on the flip, goes into darker depths, with an almost broken 4/4 beat underlying overly swinging rhythmic arrangements and hypnotic synth lines that reminisce some of the earlier bmm material. finishing off the record is the simply titled “primos”, offering a more minimalistic approach with its intricate arrangement of quirky arpeggiating melodies and playfully juggling hihats, closing off the ep in the neatest birdsmakingmachine fashion.

bang! patrick richard delivers a new ep with four bass-heavy house and techno hybrids. the a-side starts off with a wild, bass driven anarchic journey, followed by a pulsating jacking house inspired track, climaxing in a hypnotic groove. the deeper b-side begins in a dark and bass heavy territory, where a hunting analogue lead adds character. the final track is a collage of spaced out and seductive melancholic instrumentation for early morning sets. intricate arrangements, cinematic sonic landscapes and attention to detail makes this super limited ep a must have for anyone interested in electronic music pushing boundaries.
